October was a crazy month.
Between work and school, I wasn't very adventurous with my makeup. I stuck to pretty much the same products every day with the exception of my lip products, but I think that's par the course in my case. With this month, it was all drugstore products - which I think is kind of funny, considering I work with all high end stuff. Of course, I can't afford anything I work with, but that's a story for another time.
My foundation of choice this month was one I actually wasn't sure of in the beginning. Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Combo/Oily Skin has been much hyped all over the Internet and I didn't pick it up until September but when I did, I didn't get it. It reminded me a lot of other foundations that I'd tried and liked better - until I put it to the wear test. I put this baby on for my speech (I did a speech on how to put on red lipstick, which I might make into a post if people are interested) and it lasted through that, then through the day, then through work.
It's miracle foundation, I swear.
I recently used it in my raspberry lip tutorial and I really think it gives my skin the appearance of flawlessness even when I know I'm red and blotchy and broken out. If you're curious about this it's definitely something to try that won't break the bank.
Next up is another much-talked-about product - the Wet 'n' Wild Color Icon eyeshadow trio (also used in my raspberry lip tutorial) in Walking on Eggshells.
Guys.
GUYS.
THIS IS THE BEST EYESHADOW.
I'm not exaggerating at all, I promise, because I own a lot of eyeshadows and none of them even come close to these ones, even my much-loved Mac shadows. They are so blendable and pigmented and gorgeous on the eyes it's unreal. This trio in particular is perfect for a natural, every day shimmery eye and has been indispensable in my makeup bag this month. I think there were maybe three days this month that, when I wore makeup, I didn't wear this trio? I've already hit pan on the brown and I'm definitely going to have to run out and get a new one when it's gone. It's just so gorgeous I can't stand it, it's too much for me.
Those two things in the middle are actually one thing, kind of - they are the contents of a gift set from philosophy focused around lip care. The thing that sold me on them was the scent. They are a lip scrub (in the pot) and a lip gloss (in the tube) that smell exactly like Friendly's peppermint stick ice cream and they smell so good that I have to control myself when I put them on to make sure I don't just eat it. Gross? Yes, but I don't care. They smell delicious. It doesn't hurt that the lip scrub is actually good for my lips (no jojoba oil!) and the lip gloss is super moisturizing. I have definite plans to invest in the bath salts (!!!) and bubble bath in the same scent... Some day. When I have money. Whenever that will be.
Finally for makeup products we have my favorite blush of quite possibly all time, e.l.f. Studio Blush in Mellow Mauve. This blush is so unbelievably flattering with my skin tone, which I didn't really expect? It's more plum leaning than peachy which is what I tend to go for, so I did have some reservations when I first bought it. You can see this in action in my raspberry lip tutorial - can you sense a pattern here? - and it's literally the most gorgeous fall blush. I suggest everyone invest in this no matter what your skin tone is like, it's that good.
I do have some non-beauty-related favorites this month! First up is a music favorite, which - if you know me at all, this is going to come to no surprise. I have been absolutely in love with Little Mix's latest single "Move". It makes me want to do exactly what the title says (CHEESY) which is pretty bad, considering the number of times I listen to this while I'm driving.
Don't dance and drive, kids.
Anyway, check out their live performance of "Move" on The X Factor UK and fall in love with them:
And some game favorites! The first one is an app called Stardom: Hollywood that one of my best friends got me obsessed with. Since installing the app on my phone I've been playing absolutely non-stop to the point where I'm pretty sure it's a problem. Basically the game is centered around your character (avatar, that kind of thing) and their quest to join the A-List in Hollywood. You do all these projects and you can start feuds and buy clothes and it's amazing, I definitely suggest you download it. It's available for both iPhones and Androids so you have no excuse!!! Unless you have a Windows phone, which - you're missing out, buddy.
My other game favorite is for the Nintendo 3DS - Pokemon Y. I have been an avid Pokemon fan my whole life and this latest installment is my absolute favorite by far. First of all, gameplay is gorgeous. The graphics!!! THE GRAPHICS!!! Then you have that the region is based off of France which is new and lovely. The best part for me, though, is the fact that you can change your person's hair and clothes. As soon as I could I went and bought my girl several different all pink outfits, because of course I did.
So that's it, my loves! It's a bit long this month; I didn't realize I had so much to say but I really loved a lot this month. The more I typed the more I realized how hyped I was about everything I wanted to share with you guys! And it doesn't help that the pictures are severely lacking, which is something I'm working on. I'm in desperate need of a new digital camera, I think.
As always, thanks for reading and I love you all very much!!!
x Kristin
